redemption of althalus

…. the realm of gods are breached in this epic adv that can pile the pressure on lotr and dragonlance… but not that great really….. the concept of divinity is the main concern here… the maker-god-deiwos, the preserving-god-dweia and the destructive-god-daeva….. all siblings.. but daeva seem to think he’s the best out of the three…
in came althalus, a thief, a murderer and everything that made a human as crooked as he can be…. but in this book, althalus uphold the principle of ‘the end justify the means’….??????? well, dweai called upon him to ’seek’ the fellowship that could preserve the ‘now’ world…. the thing about this book that’s really interesting is the part where time travel seemed to be as simple as breathing air….. there would be the ‘now’, ‘then’ and ‘morrow’ world that can easily be tempered with caution….. so althalus was supposed to seek dweia’s army of 5 using her book, a dagger…ornated dagger… illuminate- for bheid the priest… obey for the aryo of osthos, andine…. lead for eliar the arum worrior, deceive for gher, althalus apprentice… and listen for the witch leitha who can hear people’s thoughts….. and they are up against ghend, gerta, khnom, krom, argan, and pekhal that does deava’s bickering….. and as usual, the good side always outshone the baddies….
the best bit bout this book is the discussion of religion and how it’s supposed to be in that world… just imagine, for they have 5 coloured order in the priesthood…. the turmoil within a religion, the corruptions everthingelse that concern a belief, the believer and the god….. ;p huh sum heavy stuff eh? but don’t worry, it’s just a fiction, just like da vinci’s code (or is it? :P)
then in came the beautifully crafted words, it got to hand it to the writer…. it’s the most compellingly composition i’d ever read…..
war….. the war was very magical to my opinion and very detailed one at that…. i could be the general of a great army of the 19th century by just reading this book! and nobility is also discussed here… discriminations, human rights and all…..
and here come the cons…… the good guy had it too easy.. it seemed that there no way the bad guys could even touch a hair on the good guys… it’s good that the writer thought that it’s ‘nobler’ this was but yeah, i think it’s best for the good guys to fall first b4 they can walk…..
and the time travelling could be a bit confusing at times (even impoossible at times but hey, there gods involved here ;p)
a good read with all the elements in a book (love, drama, adv, thrill, bloodshed, tears and all…..)
a 7 out of 10 for me…….
